Walk away with your new ceramic restorations in a single appointment. No goop, no temporaries, no wait.

CAD/CAM, the power of AI

CAD/CAM (computer-aided design, computer-aided manufacturing) has undoubtedly revolutionized the applications of ceramic restorations in dentistry. Since 1985, the CEREC system has remained the leader and preferred CAD/CAM technology of dentists worldwide for the fabrication of ceramic dental restorations in a single treatment appointment. Chinook Smiles is pleased to offer this remarkable technology to our patients, bringing lab-quality crowns, inlays, onlays and bridges to you chairside.

Crowns, inlays, onlays

Many may already be familiar with the same-day crowns in Calgary, AB, which is essentially a “cap” that envelops a tooth completely. But what are inlays and onlays? Similar to same-day crowns near you, these are also indirect dental restorations used to repair a damaged or decayed tooth. They are conservative and durable solutions that fall between a “filling” and a crown in terms of size and coverage. Because inlays and onlays are classified as indirect restorations, they can also be precisely fabricated with the CEREC same-day dentistry in Calgary, AB, and then bonded to your tooth.

In with the new

Traditionally, fabricated crowns, inlays, and onlays require more than one visit to the dentist. At the first appointment, you will get an injection of anesthetics, the tooth is prepared or drilled, an impression of the prepared tooth is taken by having you bite into a goopy material, and a temporary restoration is temporarily cemented on your tooth while the impression is sent out to an outside dental laboratory. You will then make a second appointment for 1 to 2 weeks later, get another injection, have the temporary pried off (if it has not fallen off already) and have the permanent restoration cemented.

With the CEREC same-day technology in Calgary at Chinook Smiles, we are able to take a digital scan of your prepared tooth (no more goop!), utilize the latest AI power to design your restoration, and then mill and fire the ceramic restoration right in the office. This means all can be accomplished in a single visit, often under 2 hours, so you can get back to your busy life without skipping a beat!

FAQs

Can all restorations be made with CEREC?2023-10-23T05:16:43+00:00

CEREC technology can only fabricate ceramic restorations. The vast majority of restorations for back teeth can be made with CEREC if ceramic is deemed to be the optimal material of choice. Your Chinook Smiles dentist will always perform an exam to assess your unique condition and needs, and discuss the best course of treatment with you.

Will my insurance cover a CEREC restoration?2023-10-23T05:13:47+00:00

Your insurance coverage will not differ for a CEREC restoration. For instance, if your coverage is 50% for a regular crown, the CEREC crown will also be reimbursed at 50%.

Does a CEREC restoration cost more?2023-10-23T05:12:28+00:00

No! At Chinook Smiles we are committed to offering our patient superior services and experiences. We do not charge extra for CEREC restorations; the dentist fee is the same as for regular crowns/restorations, and the lab fee is on par with market rates charged by third party labs.
