Traditionally fabricated crowns, inlays and onlays require more than one visit to the dentist. At the first appointment, you will get an injection of anesthetics, the tooth is prepared or drilled, an impression of the prepared tooth is taken by having you bite into a goopy material, and a temporary restoration is temporarily cemented on your tooth while the impression is sent out to an outside dental laboratory. You will then make a second appointment for 1 to 2 weeks later, get another injection, have the temporary pried off (if it has not fallen off already), and have the permanent restoration cemented.
With the CEREC same-day technology at Chinook Smiles, we are able to take a digital scan of your prepared tooth (no more goop!), utilize the latest AI power to design your restoration, and then mill and fire the ceramic restoration right in the office. This means all can be accomplished in a single visit, often under 2 hours, so you can get back to your busy life without skipping a beat!
