Many may already be familiar with the same-day crowns in Calgary, AB, which is essentially a “cap” that envelops a tooth completely. But what are inlays and onlays? Similar to same-day crowns near you, these are also indirect dental restorations used to repair a damaged or decayed tooth. They are conservative and durable solutions that fall between a “filling” and a crown in terms of size and coverage. Traditionally, fabricated crowns, inlays, and onlays require more than one visit to the dentist. At the first appointment, you will get an injection of anesthetics, the tooth is prepared or drilled, an impression of the prepared tooth is taken by having you bite into a goopy material, and a temporary restoration is temporarily cemented on your tooth while the impression is sent out to an outside dental laboratory. You will then make a second appointment for 1 to 2 weeks later, get another injection, have the temporary pried off (if it has not fallen off already) and have the permanent restoration cemented.
